My name is Andrea Gilardi and I'm the head coach of the Italian club "Precision Skating Milano".
My club was the first to introduce synchronized skating in Italy and I was the first coach. The cooperation with the team Hot Shivers began in 1990. It was just a folk-skating team and in 1991 we decided to turn into a precision skating one. My teams achieved some good results winning some international competitions and having good placements in other ones. I began skating in 1978 and I have been an ice dancer until 1994. Actually I still feel an ice dancer :-) As a competitor I had good results at national championships, winning some titles, and also good placements in international competitions including Europeans and Junior and Senior World Championships. During my career I was fortunate to have good cooperation with Michael Webster (my permanent coach) together with Betty Callaway, Krisztina Regöczy, Jimmy Young, Martin Skotnicki, Elena Tchaikowskaya, Tatiana Tarasova, and Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean. The hard work done with these great coaches and choreographers made me improve my skills and increased my expertise in several branches of figure skating. Talking about my job, in the beginning, while I was still a competitor, I was a part-time choreographer for singles and ice dancing. When I stopped competing, this became my job and now I'm the only Italian choreographer able to work for all disciplines: figure skating, ice dancing and obviously synchronized skating. Since 1997 I'm also the coach of another Italian junior team: Ice Crystals from Varese. And in the same year I began a cooperation with the Eislauf Zentrum Herzogenried icerink in Mannheim, Germany, for singles and the team Shooting Stars. I had a cooperation with my long time friend Hendryk Schamberger for his dance couples in Berlin and the roller skating synchronized skating team Spectacular Skate from Bologna. I was hired for a couple of seminars in Great Britain for the British national teams. Since 2002 I also work for singles in Como for the A.S.G.A. skating club. In 2004 I was allowed to participate to the fist ISU seminar for synchronized skating technical specialists ever. Lately I began a good and promising cooperation with the Sport Club Merano for singles.
